All the Antioxidants! Berry Green Tea Smoothie and Smoothie Bowl

I'll let you in on my dirty little secret: I don't actually like unflavoured green tea very much. I know, I know, I own a tea company, but everyone is allowed to have their own personal preferences, right?

I made it a personal goal this year to drink more green tea. Green tea is good for your body, your skin, and possibly your metabolism and waistline (I'm still waiting for confirmation on that one). It also contains less caffeine than black tea, so it's a good tea to enjoy in the afternoon.

Do you know what else has a ton of beneficial antioxidants just like green tea? Berries!

Berries and green tea together are a fantastic combination. I recently created a smoothie and a smoothie bowl using these two powerhouse ingredients in my efforts to consume more green tea.

Smoothie Ingredients:

  • One mug (about 1 1/2 cups) of green tea, steeped and cooled
  • 1 cup mixed berries, frozen
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp maple syrup, honey, or other liquid sweetener (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup almond milk (optional - or add extra iced tea)

Make your tea and allow it to cool. I find it easy to do this before I go to bed and then put the tea in the fridge for the next morning.

Add tea and all other ingredients to a high-powered blender. Blend until smooth and enjoy!

To make a smoothie bowl, omit almond milk or add extra frozen berries until desired thickness is reached. Top with your favourite toppings! I used granola, pecans, and chocolate covered coconut pieces. Yum!
